Ingredients

Low temperature dried organic alaria (alaria esculenta).

Suggested Use

Basic Prep

Our wild Alaria is a raw whole food that can be enjoyed right from the bag or added to recipes. It comes straight from the ocean without any rinsing or processing and is solar dried at mild temperatures to retain nutrients and enzymes. Please check for occasional pebbles or shells hidden in the fronds. The fronds may develop a fine white powder during storage. Nothing to worry about...it's just natural salts and sugars that can either be rinsed off or left for flavor.

Store your Alaria in this bag or other sealed container away from extreme light, heat and moisture. Alaria is best cooked, though thin edges of the raw frond are tender before the midrib. May be substituted for Wakame, but requires 20 min. cooking time. To reduce cooking time, remove the midribs or cook them separately. Or pressure cook the entire frond for 5-6 min. Pre-soaking for 1-12 hrs. or pre-roasting for 3 min. at 300° shortens usual cooking time by 5-10 min.

Warnings

Consuming this product can expose you to chemicals, including lead, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Prop 65.
